Android Wear Update: Google Reveals New Emoji Detection Feature For Its Smartwatch Operating System

Android Wear smartwatches are about to get a lot of more fun as Google has revealed during its I/O developer conference last Thursday the inclusion of an exciting emoji detection feature which allows users to draw their desired emojis on the watch face in order to find a match easier.

Most people are now fond of using emojis as it helps them show some of their expressions and feelings to other people which cannot be seen in non-personal kind of communication such as texting and online chatting. It might all be fun and exciting to think about what emoji one should be using; but with an endless list of versions, it can also be tiring and sickening.

This is what Google will be trying to solve with its Android Wear's emoji detection feature which will let its users draw the emoji they desire on the watch face in order to find a match easily. Instead of browsing the long list manually or describing it verbally, Android Wear automatically scans the drawing of the user and suggests matching emojis with the same shape. If the users find the results quite different though, they can always manually search to find the exact one they desire to use.

It might sound like it is just a shallow update to Google's smartwatch operating system but it is believed to help reduce time a user would normally spend fiddling their watches in order to find certain emojis.

The emoji detection feature is only a part of Google's major update on its smartwatch operating system which includes wrist twists which enables its users to navigate notifications, a black-and-white, low-power mode that conserves its battery, and a smart lock that locks the watch when it is inactive. Altogether, these were announced during the company's I/O developer conference last Thursday.
