Nintendo's Next Console Nintendo NX Will Not Run On Android

Nintendo dismisses the issue that their next console, which is Nintendo NX, would be powered by Android.

Last March, the CEO of Nintendo Satoru Iwata announced that the famous gaming company is working on a "dedicated game platform with a brand new concept". The Verge reports that they're currently calling it NX. Aside from that, Iwata said that more details will be released next year.

With that, a report about the anticipated gaming console Nintendo NX sprouted recently through a Japanese newspaper.

Nikkei Shimbun, Japan's most respected newspaper company, published an article about the next Nintendo console being powered by Android.

An unnamed source said that Nintendo plans to use the Android operating system to power up the Nintendo NX. Aside from that one unnamed source, the report hadn't mention any other source to the information stated above.

A lot of people approves Nintendo NX to be run on a android-operating system saying that this will open more game developers to build games for the new console. This is a good step since Wii U has been getting little attention from software developers because of its independent and 'highly customized hardware and first-party software development' as reported by Ars Technica. In addition to that, Android is more accessible to a lot of people. Meaning, more market.

Sadly, the report is not true.

A day later, as not to get the hopes of the Android fans up, a spokesperson from Nintendo dismisses the rumor.

"There is no truth to the report saying that we are planning to adopt Android for NX," the spokesperson said according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Except from the confirmation that the next console does exist, Nintendo hasn't disclosed more details about the topsecret console.

According to Iwata Nintendo will release more information about the Nintendo NX in 2016. A year is still a long way away. Nintendo might still change their decision and decide to use Android instead. Who know? Anything is possible.
