Apple introduces iOS 9; to excite users and takes on Android, Google Now and others

While launching multiple products, features and services at its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple also debuts its latest version of its operating system- the iOS 9. This version will come into iPhone and iPad this fall.

Though there are no many significant changes in the new OS version, there are bunch of minor improvements, that will surely keep Apple fans excited. Here's a rundown of what's new and what's up in the battle for smartphone domination.

Meet your proactive assistant

Siri gets more intelligent in iOS 9. Through Siri, Spotlight and the platform itself, iOS 9 encapsulates a proactive feature that learns from your habits. For instance, if you plug-in headphones while you workout at the gym, it will start playing your Now Playing track right away. Likewise, it will detect any upcoming event in your email and will automatically add it to your calendar. It will even check current driving conditions and send you a notification when it's time to leave.

Return of the Maps

Apple, which had a awful track record with Maps, is sure to impress commuters without cars with its new public transit feature. Unlike earlier version, the IOS 9 will now directly provide public transit direction instead of routing you to a third-party app.

Kill Android

Android phones have been favorite of many due to its easy collaboration and compatibility with other gadgets. Giving a clear and blatant shot to encourage more people to abandon Android, Apple has got everyone covered for a seamless transition with 'Move to IOS'. This helps people switch from Android to Apple.

'Move to IOS' helps transfer contacts, photo and videos, message history, bookmarks, email, wallpapers, calendars and other stored content from an android device to Apple.

News Gets More Personal

One big app in IOS 9 is Apple News, which aggregates a personalized list of new articles from topics that a user is following. This new feature helps you pick topics you're interested in, as well as specific feeds of your favorite sites, all of which gets aggregated into one visual app.

Nimble Apple

Perhaps the most the exciting feature of IOS 9 is the real multi-tasking mode where you can use two full-fledged apps side-by-side, although available only for iPAd, it makes the device more suitable for work than ever before.

Moreover, the iPad's on-screen keyboard is also getting updated with a toolbar for copy, cut, paste- making text selection easier. The keyboard will also be upgraded to include shortcut tools for switching between apps and other actions.
