Apple just released iOS 9.0.1 to fix the "Slide to Upgrade" bug
Apple just released iOS 9.0.1 to fix their major "Slide to Upgrade" bug issue that over half of its users are experiencing after its iOS 9 update. Affected users can get the update by connecting their iPhone, iPad, and iPod to the iTunes on their computer and perform a force restart of their device.
The iOS 9 that was released on September 15th is claimed by Apple to be the fastest operating system Apple ever release as reported by Forbes. However, the claim comes to a halt after lots of users are reporting a major "Slide to Upgrade" bug causing Apple devices to freeze and users unable to complete their update. Some users reported that the issue is fixed after they performed a hard reset to their device according to BGR report.
According to Tech Times, Apple has released an official document on how to install the new update and it even update its support page, especially for the "Slide to Upgrade" issue. Apple said that users can simply update the device by opening 'Setting' and click the 'Software Update' tab. The new update size is just around 34 megabytes but will differ according to devices.
However, for devices that are unresponsive, users can connect their device to their computer via USB cable and then launch iTunes application. The application will automatically detect the iOS devices plugged in. Then, users were forced to restart their device by pressing and holding the home and standby button for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appeared on the screen. After that, an iTunes logo will appear on their device and users can update them from there.
Users can also restore from an old backup together with the update to make sure their files are safe. This can be done by selecting the 'Restore Backup' button in the iTunes.
Besides the setup assistant issue, the latest update also fixes other reported problems. Among other fixes are fix the alarm problem, Safari, distorted frame when pausing a video, and it also solve the custom APN setup problem where some users reported that they would lose cellular data.
The latest fix is the quickest response ever done by Apple and it highlights the company effort to take care of its users. So far, iOS 9 can be considered as a successful update by the company compared to its previous disastrous update of iOS 8 where lots of bugs and crashes are reported.
