West Virginia Introduces New Marketing Campaign By Using their Local National Parks to Increase Tourist Visitors

West Virginia has a new marketing campaign and it is by making use of the National Parks Services to strengthen tourists' promotions on New River Gorge National River, Gauley River National Recreation Area and the Bluestone National Scenic River. The new campaign will also marketing the National parks for more visibility and attract more visitors.

The Visit Southern West Virginia explained that the campaign will be marketed with the name, the National Parks of Southern Virginia. The chairperson of Visit Southern West Virginia had said this will be the largest campaign that their organization, formerly the Southern West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau has handled.

Bailey also had said they will produce and publish one million copies of "The Great American Vacation" with the use of the National Park Service, including the West Virginia Division of Tourism, area visitor centers and other outlets, the Skift reported.

They had also started to campaign through their latest website, television and online ads. "This campaign will increase visibility of our parks, celebrate their unique qualities and bring new visitors to the region to appreciate and experience them," Bailey explained. According to the Register-Herald, the Visit Southern West Virginia made an announcement of the campaign last Friday while at the Canyon Rim Visitor Center in Lansing.

"We have three exciting national parks in our area, but their names don't always say national parks to those who visit our area. This campaign will increase visibility of our parks, celebrate their unique qualities and bring new visitors to the region to appreciate and experience them" she explained.

Trish Kicklighter, the Superintendent of the New River Gorge National River also explained, 45 percent of visitors to the three parks "didn't realize they were visiting national parks". These visitors also added if they had known, they would have visited it. Kicklighter said, "If people don't know they are in a national park, how do they know how to behave when they are here and how to protect these resources?" This massive marketing campaign will help to increase the parks' popularity and will help to promote tourism more.
