2016 US Olympic Marathon Trials to Host by Los Angeles City

The upcoming year will be all marathoners much anticipated sports event, the 2016 US Olympic Marathon Trials. Chosen city to host the sports event, Los Angeles City was announced by the L.A. Marathon LLC.

The Daily News reported, Tracey Russell, the CEO of the L.A. Marathon LLC said the U.S. Olympic marathon trials will feature a looped course that will start and finish at L.A. Live. February 13 marks the beginning of the event and will feature a 2.2-mile loop and a six-mile loop. The runners have to run four rounds to complete the 26.1-mile trial for men and women. First three runners to complete in each race will qualify to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro from Aug. 5-21. The top runners will also receive $600,000 prize purse divided among the winners fairly.

The LA Marathon CEO, Russell said, "It really sets the stage for an epic weekend of running. It will be a flat, fast course. I think our event helps amplify why Los Angeles should be selected for the 2024 Game." The marathon race will begin with a two-mile northern loop, heading to downtown. Then, runners will run a six-mile loop to the Coliseum and back. Russell also said that the course was already verified.

According to the Running with miles, attendees who want to watch the running event can enjoy viewing and cheer as the LA Olympic Marathon Trials team has organized an area where people can assemble and cheering activities. Volunteers are also welcome on the running event.

The organizers also sell "VIP Hospitality" packages for $150 for the best viewing seats. Other access for the VIP Package includes an access to bleachers seats near the Start/Finish line and the attendees also has entry passes into the Race Hospitality Tent where they can eat on the breakfast hosted bar and while enjoying the live broadcast of the running event within the Tent.
