Israel Tourism Minister Plans to Increase Hotel rooms In Order to Cut the Hotel Rooms Price

Israel will increase the number of hotels rooms to cut down the hotel costs for tourist traveling at the country. The new plan was announced by the Tourism industry officials and finance industry.

According to Skift, at the press conference in Jerusalem, Yariv Levin, the Tourism Minister of Jerusalem said, they are planning to built and increase the number of hotel rooms of 27,000 in the next 10 years, nine times the count constructed in the past years. Not having enough hotel rooms is to blame for the increasing 70% cost for overnight accommodation in Israel since in the year 2005.

Levin explains, "There's not a big enough supply of hotels because it isn't worthwhile to build them. We appreciate those who do it because they do it under impossible conditions. "The national program for lowering hotel rates we're launching will spur a rapid expansion of hotel building, the addition of tens of thousands of rooms and a changed market," the Haaretz wrote.

Moshe Kahlon, the Finance Minister also emphasized how the plan will greatly benefit the less income people as hotel would be their travel option. "We've seen that everywhere else in the world people with less money take vacations at hotels, and that's how it should be in Israel," Kohlon explained.

The Globe English reported, on Sunday, the proposed plans and building law will be presented to the government. The Tourism Ministry's new plan which will have the support from the Finance Ministry allowing developers to increase up to 20% building rights for residences alongside the commercial hotel rights.

Finance Minister Kahlon also added, the plan will lessen the rental cost. Hotel rooms will not exclusive to the rich and to high-earners. "Across the world, the middle class and below go on vacation. In my time, we used to be sent to our aunt, and it was fine; but today the country can afford to make vacations affordable even for those not earning NIS 30,000-40,000 per month. People need to vacation, it is no longer a luxury."

With the plan, hotels will be designate as national infrastructure and approval for their construction may be fast- tracked by the National Infrastructure Committee.
