Silver Crew Sock Eliminates Smelly Feet With Silver
The Silver Crew Sock, which uses silver to eliminate odor, is a Kickstarter project that raised $72,000 12 hours after posting.
"We [were] prototyping some of our future products, so we asked him if he'd be willing to test out a new sock," Y Athletics founder Sam Mazumdar told Mashable. "He (a fan from Netherlands who wore the sock on a charity cycling trip from New York to Los Angeles) agreed and wore one sock for two weeks through 800 miles of cycling ... it didn't smell at the end of the trip. That's when we knew we had to bring this to market."
According to The Sun, Y athletics' SilverAir Odorless Crew Sock uses machine-washable Australian Merino Wool mixed with pure silver, which eliminates odor by preventing bacteria from the user's sweat from getting into the fabric. The other material used to create the sock can be found in the US, or it can be imported straight from Italy. The sock also has ventilation zones that allow the feet to breathe and avoid ponging.
According to NewsX, this odorless sock, which will be sold in the US May 2016, is not the first odorless clothing that Y Athletics has launched. The bran also introduced an odorless shirt and an odorless ankle sock, which is not the world's most widely-funded sock. Y Athletics launched its SilverAir shirt in 2013, and the Silver Air ankle sock was launched earlier in 2015. The new SilverAir Crew Sock is a response to the feedback that the company got from users of the ankle high Silver Air Sock. The newer sock can be worn in every occasion and is very versatile.
The odorless sock is available in Jet Black and Graphite grey. The socks are only available in Kickstarter, as of now. It will be available in Y Athletics' website soon. The sock sells for $25 a pair.
