N.C. senate bill to extend abortion waiting period ‘demeans’ women and their decision making skills

The North Carolina senate, however, seemingly defies the WHO guidelines on abortion, as a bill to extend the waiting period to 72 hours was initially approved during a senate meeting on Thursday, May 28. The bill proposes that a woman who wishes to undergo abortion must consult with a medical professional during the waiting period in order to think carefully of her decisions. This is in clear defiance to the WHO-set guidelines, which says that any woman who decides to undergo abortion should be given the procedure without any delay or "mandatory waiting period."
