Delta Airlines Joins Expedia's Promotion for Transparency Views on Airline Fees

After the online Travel Search website Expedia announced its new "Upgrade Options" tool disclosing all flight fees such as baggage checking fee and other "hidden charge fees" to promote transparency view, the America's major airline, Delta cooperates with Expedia as its partner. Delta Airlines had agreed to collaborate with Expedia in this effort.

According to the PR Newswire, Delta Airlines is on Expedia's side and will also provide full description of their product, airfare and cost information. The travel booking site had announce this week regarding their new feature tool that displays fees for bag checking, canceling reservation fees and others. The Managing Director Distribution, Chris Philips said, "By partnering with online travel agencies, Delta is giving our customers more control in the type of travel experience they'd like to have on Delta versus simply choosing the lowest available fare,"

As of now, the US major airlines Delta and other airlines in Europe, such as Airberlin are now displaying the "fare bundles", the TNOOZ reported. The giant airline's involvement as the Expedia's new feature launcher was also notable as last year the airline company has refused to allow other third party sites like Trip Advisors and decided to drive more booking on their official website.

With the collaboration with Expedia, the airline is now offering five different choices, according to Travel Media Daily. The option includes, Delta One, First Class, Delta Comfort+, Main Cabin and Basic Economy. Philips also added, "When we started clearly showing our customers on delta.com their options for booking First Class, Delta Comfort+, Main Cabin and Basic Economy, the overall reaction was very positive," Philips explained.

Delta also found that, given a clear choice, customers often choose to buy the full experience versus just the lowest available fare. "The natural next step was to take this best-in-class online shopping experience to all of our distribution channels, including the online travel agencies." he added.
