Cape Town Residence Apartments: The new Radisson Blue Hotel and Residence

Situated in the heart of Cape Town, the distinctive Safmarine House building will soon become the new Radisson Blu Hotel and Residence. The residential property is gaining a luxury tag in Cape Town as a result of a partnership between the Mother City based property investor Shaun Rye and global hotels group Carlson Rezidor.

The building is currently being restored by Signatura, in association with Juan Bernicchi Architects, Francois du Plessis Interiors and the Stonehill Property Fund. Set to be ready for occupation from September 2016, it will be divided between the five-star Radisson Blu Hotel floors 1 - 11 and luxury apartment's floors 12 -23.

Currently on show on the 15th floor is a range of fully furnished one and two bedroom apartments, decorated by Francois du Plessis Interiors. Browse the gallery above to see what's on offer. According to the building developers, the size of one and two bedroom apartments is 40m2 to 88m2 while the size of six penthouse apartments is 162m2 up to 184m2. A 24-hour security is also expected.

It is fully air- conditioned with backup generators. There are also imported Italian kitchens and SMEG appliances. In addition, interested home owners may take advantage of the hi-speed fiber optic internet connectivity and energy-efficient LED lighting. The parking area is also allegedly very secured.

According to Property 24, John Rabie, the project developer, claimed that the building will also have 24-hour manned security to ensure the safety of all residents as well as private parking. He stated, "All apartments have dedicated parking bays, with one bay for one-beds and two bays for two-beds; a big plus in a city where parking comes at a premium." Rai also mentioned that the existing architecture made it perfect for conversion from office space to apartments.

Residents will also have access to the hotel's five-star facilities and services, including 24-hour room service, a gym, a swimming pool and sun deck, a pool bar and terrace, an all-day dining restaurant, housekeeping, self-service laundrette or hotel laundry and valet, hotel shuttles, personal grocery shopping and child care.

Basic one bedroom apartments, minus installed kitchens and additional furnishings are also available from R1.63 million. The two bedroom apartments will retail from R2.6 million. To date, the two parties are set to convert Triangle House, an iconic 23-storey office building in the city's Foreshore precinct, into Radisson Blu Hotel and Residence Cape Town. The converted development is scheduled to welcome the first guests in late 2016.
