British Airways to Restart Gatwick LGW to New York JFK route on May 2016

United Kingdom's flag carrier, British Airways will start to operate direct flights from Gatwick to New York in May 2016. The British airline company terminates its operation on the LGW to New York JFK route before due to commercial reasons.

The carriers on the list that will fly to the said route, a three-class B777-200, with 40 seats in Club World (business), 24 in World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and 216 in World Traveler (economy), on to the daily route, the BBT reported. The British Airways previously have the said service, LGW to New York JFK route back in 1988 and 2009 and from 2008 to 2009, however, the operations were suspended.

According to the Crawley News, the flight service will open on May 1st next year. Daily scheduled flight to New York's JFK airport will depart from Gatwick 4.40pm to arrive at 7.30pm US time. The returns flights will leave New York at 8pm and land back at Gatwick at 10.10am the next day.

Lynne Embleton, the British Airways MD at Gadwick said, "The new route from Gatwick to New York's JFK airport will enable us to offer access to a third London airport, giving our customers maximum choice and flexibility", the Business Traveller reported.

Embleton added, "The new route also complements our almost hourly service from Heathrow, thanks to our transatlantic Joint Business with American Airlines. Customers can choose from 13 daily British Airways flights and another three on American Airlines to New York, as well as our double-daily business class only service from London City".

Along their resumed direct flight service from Gatwick Airport flights to New York, next week, the British Airways will also add new improve meal menus for the airlines passengers' long distance Economy travel class route from Heathrow. The British Airways MD at Gatwick also said that the New York is British Airways' flagship Atlantic route and will always be one of the most popular destinations for holidaymakers and business travellers alike.
